Large enterprises in Town municipality Novo mesto are: Revoz, Krka, Adria Mobil, Labod, TPV, Novoles and Pfleiderer Novoterm. Three quarters of employees in our municipality are workers of the mentioned large enterprises.

Prevalent industrial branches are pharmaceutical, automotive, construction and trading industries. These companies create 85% of communal income and 65% of regional income.

Regional exports present 17% of Slovenia's total export. 95% of that is created by large enterprises, which means that Dolenjska is the most export oriented region of Slovenia.

Unemployment rate in Novo mesto municipality was 8,2% in March of 2002, and was somewhat lower than the average for Slovenia (11,5%). Also encouraging is the dropping tendency of it, as there were 8,7% of unemployed in October of 2001.
