Wine country on the northern hillside of Gorjanci is expanding on the rolling hills at the foot of Gorjanci. This is the originating wine country of the famous cviček of Dolenjska. The vineyards are limited to specific locations that provide beneficial micro climatic and pedologistic conditions. In between there are woods ore she soil is being used for other agricultural needs.

Podgorjanska wine road is set on a regionally interesting line which passes by numerous cultural monuments and through the country that was depicted by some of the greats of Slovene literary history.

Podgorjanska wine road passes through following locations: Ratež - Brusnice - Tolsti vrh - Orehovica - Gor. Vrhpolje - Pleterje monastery - Pleterski hrib - Ržišče - Kostanjevica. We need to add an important fact, that the wine from this part of Slovenija is autochthonous and is the only sort besides teran, that has a regional origin.
